The Rising Pricing of Cacao
Dear Sacred Fam,
As you have become aware, the cacao crisis is here, and we have been flooded with orders, emails & messages from our guys showing love and support - not only for our brand - but our products, and of course... our mission.
It has been our intention since day one to ensure that our cacao enriches the lives of everyone it touches, this is why I went into the jungle myself personally to meet with the Ashaninka and to see how our business will impact their lives in the future.
In case you were not aware - our cacao is not grown on a farm or plantation - but in the wild by one of the oldest tribes still living in the jungle today, the Ashaninka.
Here, over 350 families grow and cultivate our cacao as a means to preserve their land, protect their culture and live the "Kemetsa Asaike" which means - the Good Life!
The Cacao Crisis
Due to severe weather conditions, crops being decimated and improper planting, the global cacao market (cocoa market) is now in a state of crisis, rushing to Central and South America to get their supply of cacao to meet consumer demand.
This is good for our farmers, as this has driven prices up by almost 400% but bad news for the cacao industry as pure, wild-harvested cacao is now being bought up turned into cocoa powder to be used as chocolate instead.
Only 10% of the cacao grown in the world remains as cacao while 90% of cacao gets ultra-heat treated and turned into cocoa powder to be turned into chocolate.
Which is bad news for smaller cacao brands like ours who revere the cacao as other big brands (you know the ones) are coming in and buying up all the cacao to turn it into chocolate - check out this great video that explains it all here!

Cacao vs Cocoa - Whats the difference?
So you can understand what this all means and how it effects you and the world - we are going to break it down for you in a nut shell (cacao shell 😆)
Cacao (co-cow) and Cocoa (co-co) both substances derive from the same plant, the Theobroma Cacao Tree, but changes depending on how it is processed:
- Cacao is fermented and dried at low temperatures with nutrients in tact.
- Cocoa is heated over 100 degrees which sweetens the flavour but destroys all nutrients and minerals aka... the good stuff!

The Facts:
- There are currently over 1.5 million children in slave labour growing cacao in Africa
- Only 10% of the cacao grown in the world remains as cacao (good for you)
- 90% of cacao turns into cocoa powder for confectionary items (bad for you)
- Cacao prices have skyrocketed as the #1 performing commodity of 2024!
Our Mission
It is safe to say that humans and nature are out of balance. We have destroyed our rainforests, polluted the air, poisoned our food and contaminated our waters.
And for what benefit?
Humanity is experiencing some of the worst cases of depression and highest levels of anxiety in history and our society as a whole has become very sick and disconnected, losing connection with our roots and forgetting our ancient medicines & cultures.
At Sacred, it's our mission to bridge the gap and bring ourselves back into alignment, by bringing real cacao out of the jungle (not plantation) and back to the people, to open our hearts and return the planet to state of harmony - As etched in our ethos and foretold by the Ancient Mayan Legend...
A Heartfelt Thank You...
On behalf of our Sacred Team and the beautiful Ashaninka communities we support in the Amazonian jungles of Peru, we want to say a huge thank you for your love and support.
Because of you, we can continue our mission—to protect this rare, wild-crafted cacao species and empower the Ashaninka people who cultivate it. Your support is helping us preserve ancient traditions, protect the rainforest, and bring the magic of cacao to the world.
One More Week at Current Prices!
To show our gratitude, we're keeping our current prices for one more week!If you haven't placed your order yet, now is the perfect time before prices increase by 20-40%.
Lock in Current Pricing:
Your continued support truly means the world to us. Every sip you take helps sustain the cacao market, protect indigenous lands, and make a positive impact—one cup at a time
With love & gratitude 🙏
